These courageous scents of French oak and lavender are inspired by St. Joan of Arc.
Behind the Inspiration
Centuries before Joan's birth, a prophecy attributed to Merlin was made, foretelling that France would one day be saved by "by a virgin from the oak forests of Lorraine." Oak is well known and prized for its incredible strength, reminding us of Joan's fortitude and persistence, even in the midst of great trials. And lavender, which calls to mind the fields of France, symbolizes grace, purity, devotion, and silence.
St. Joan of Arc is the patron of soldiers and France. Her feast day is May 30.
US Shipping: For orders to the contiguous states, free shipping is automatic on orders of $75 or more, and other orders ship for just $7. Shipping for orders to Hawaii and Alaska will be calculated at checkout. Orders are shipped via USPS Priority Mail and tracking information is provided.
International Shipping: Orders shipping to Canada will be sent via Fedex International Ground and shipping is calculated at checkout. For other international destinations, please send me your shipping address and order, and I'll send a shipping quote back. Please note that all international shipping costs/duties/taxes/etc. are the responsibility of the recipient. Each candle is handcrafted with CORDA's proprietary coconut wax blend, custom phthalate-free fragrances blended in-house, and a cotton and paper wick primed with all-natural wax. Learn more about the ingredients here.
You’ll get the cleanest, longest, and safest burn from your candle with a few simple steps:
- Always trim the wick before lighting to 1/8”–1/4”
- Burn until the melted wax reaches edge to edge, or very nearly, to reduce tunneling
- Burn only up to 4 hours at a time
- Always keep a burning candle in sight, away from flammable materials, out of drafts, out of reach of pets and children, and on a heat-safe surface
- Keep out of direct sunlight

Heidi Jirak St. Joan of Arc's virtues are apparent with every light of her candle namesake, "Valor and Grace". I feel inspired and uplifted to also live my life full of these virtues, as well as the "grace, purity, devotion, and silence" this scent invokes. Sherry Binversie This candle (St. Joan of Arc) has a beautifully soft aroma that increases when lit, but is not overpowering. If you enjoy lavender, this pairing with French Oak might just become your new favorite scent combination. I've purchased several candles from Corda and the burn time is fantastic, the scents are lovely, and they make great gifts :) I actually purchased this one for myself and have enjoyed it so far!
