Behind the Inspiration

This “man of the beatitudes” is loved for his example of true masculinity. An avid climber, Pier Giorgio was famously photographed smoking a pipe atop a mountain peak. He found God by striving “verso l’alto,” or “to the heights,” as well as “on the ground” in friendship, political action, and care for the poor even in his last days.

Bl. Pier Giorgio’s feast day is July 4.

Each candle is handcrafted with CORDA's proprietary coconut wax blend, custom phthalate-free fragrances blended in-house, and a cotton and paper wick primed with all-natural wax. Learn more about the ingredients here.

You’ll get the cleanest, longest, and safest burn from your candle with a few simple steps:

Always trim the wick before lighting to 1/8”–1/4”
Burn until the melted wax reaches edge to edge, or very nearly, to reduce tunneling
Burn only up to 4 hours at a time
Always keep a burning candle in sight, away from flammable materials, out of drafts, out of reach of pets and children, and on a heat-safe surface
Keep out of direct sunlight

I love Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati. I was fascinated by the description of the candle with the scent of pipe smoke. This one turned out to be my favorite. It’s a nice subtle scent. I love to start my morning by lighting this candle and doing my daily prayers. It’s the perfect way to begin my day.

Alpine Ascent is one of my CORDA favorites. It's aroma evokes warmth, earth elements and creates a sense of grounding. It is my go-to for late afternoons after a stressful day. Paired with a cup of tea--Alpine Ascent brings me back to my senses. It is a wonderful companion to late day meditation and prayer sessions when I want to "elevate" my thoughts from the mundane to the sacred. True to its name--Alpine Ascent harkens back to crisp mountain air and the warmth of pipe tobacco. This candle grounds, comforts and inspires.

Top of my daughter’s wishlist

My daughter listed the Compline and Alpine Ascent candles as suggestions for her birthday/Christmas wish list. When I read both descriptions, how could I pick so I purchased both. She loves them and these replaced the two she had used up. She uses them during prayer. Her brother expressed an interest in them, so I’ll return for a gift for him.

I bought several candles through a fundraiser and was intrigued by the “pipe smoke” mentioned in this description. Don’t many of us have memories of a grandpa with a pipe always in hand? …this scent is so lovely and so mild. It truly has the pleasant musk of the pipe smell without the bad parts. I absolutely love it!
