Behind the Inspiration This love poem at the heart of the Bible reveals to us the heart of God, who pursues us as lover and bridegroom. Here the nuptial love between man and woman becomes an image of God’s own love for the world.
In the poetic imagery of the Song, pomegranate refers to the bride, apple to the groom, and cedar to both.
