**Seconds** This candle will have a few cosmetic differences: the lid will be scratched and/or dinged, there will be no hang tag, and the label may not have foil stamping. The scent, the jar, and everything else will be perfect!
These contemplative scents of cherry and violet are inspired by St. Elizabeth of the Trinity.
Notes of sweet cherry, sandalwood, violet, almond, dewy foliage, and jasmine.
Behind the Inspiration
From the time she was little, Elizabeth knew that she wanted to be a nun, but it wasn't until the special summer of her 14th birthday that she realized God was calling her to be a Carmelite ("the word Carmel was pronounced in my soul," she later told her prioress). And during that summer, a good friend remembers her eating cherries that the locals called "Carmelites," joking "I do it to have a vocation."
Violet speaks to her life both before and after entering Carmel. When Elizabeth began writing poetry as a teenager, she used vibrant violet ink. She continued writing poetry the rest of her life, often composing works of prayer or for particular events, and has left us a tremendous spiritual treasure in her poems.
The scent of violet also draws on her religious name of Elizabeth of the Trinity and her special insight into that theological mystery. Violets have symbolized the Holy Trinity for centuries, due to the trinity of their colors and their leaves. Colloquially, they were called the "Trinity Flower" and in the Middle Ages, monks called them "herba trinitatis" or the "Herb of the Trinity."
St. Elizabeth is the patron saint of sick people and of the loss of parents. Elizabeth's feast day is November 8.
St. Elizabeth of the Trinity, pray for us.
