Easily Reuse or Recycle Your Candle Jar

CORDA candles are intentionally designed with reusable materials, including the beautiful glass jar.

Wondering what to do with the jar of your finished candle? It just takes 10-15 minutes to clean it out and have it ready for a new use!

What You'll Need

  • Finished candle jar(s)
  • Metal spoon
  • Aluminum foil
  • Paper towels
  • Baking sheet
  • Rubbing alcohol/isopropyl alcohol

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to the lowest setting (150°-200°).

  2. Tear off a sheet of aluminum foil and fold up the sides to create a rim all the way around. Place this on top of the baking sheet, and put a paper towel inside to soak up the melted wax, so cleaning up will be super easy.

  3. Place your candle jar upside down on the paper towel.

  4. Put in the baking sheet in the oven and bake in the oven for 5-10 minutes, until all of the wax has melted and dripped down to the paper towel.

  5. Your candle jar will be quite warm and may have wax on the outside, so use a folded paper towel to grab and flip it right side up. (You can use a potholder, but be warned it may get wax on it and wax won't wash out.)

  6. Still holding your warm candle jar with the folded paper towel, use your metal spoon to scoop out the wick tab and wick sticker inside the jar. If there's any residue from the wick sticker, use the spoon to scrape it off.

  7. Peel off the candle label (if desired).

  8. Use a paper towel to clean off the remaining wax, and use a paper towel with rubbing alcohol to get the last bit of wax residue off the jar. Please note that we do not recommend washing your candle jar if it still has wax on it, as the wax can clog your drain. Use the rubbing alcohol to remove all the wax, and then your glass can be washed.

And that's it! Your candle jar is now ready to be recycled or repurposed as desired. Use them in the kitchen as drinking glasses or single-serve desserts, in the bathroom to store cotton balls or q-tips, in the office for paper clips, or anywhere as vases. Enjoy!
